LHS Band Student Earns All-State Honors



Jason Long was selected for the OMEA All-State Band which performed in Cincinnatti on February 4th. Jason studies trombone privately with Dr. Charles Temple.

The Ohio All-State Band performs in conjunction with the Ohio Music Education Association's Convention.

Ben Stover, Jason Long, and Matt Koehler were selected as part of a group of 69 students chosen from over 150 applicants to represent band programs throughout Ohio. Each student submitted a taped audition and played for seat placement once they came to their first rehearsal at the University of Akron. Matt Koehler earned the first chair trumpet position, Jason Long earned second chair trombone, and Ben Stover, a percussionist, was given a drum set solo. The Ohio Band Directors Honors Symphonic Band was conducted by Mr. Frederick Nyline, professor of music at Luther College.

Honors Wind Ensembles



Josephine Koltek, Ben Stover, Megan Swaggard, Amanda Koontz, and Matt Koehler were selected to participate in the Kent State Honors Bands which rehearsed Feb. 18th and 19th concluding with a concert on campus in the University Auditoium. The conductors for the bands were Mr. Scott Curfman and Dr. Wayne Gorder, both professors from Kent State University.
