Honors Wind Ensemble


 

Alicia Schwartz, and Kayla Koontz were selected by audition for The University of Akron's 31st Annual Ohio Band Director's Conference Honors Band held December 7, 2002. Stanley F. Michalski Jr., Director of Bands Emeritus at Clarion University of Pennsylvania was the guest conductor.

Honors Wind Ensemble


 


LHS Band Students selected for Kent State University Honors Band on January 17th, 2003. Bill Jeffries, Jason Long, Jon Royer, Matt Koehler, Alicia Schwartz, and Kayla Koontz performed with the Kent State University Honors Band and Christy Robison and Amanda Koontz were members of the Kent State Festival Band. Students from both Ohio and Pennsylvania were selected through taped audition. The students were on campus for rehearsals all day Friday and Saturday and performed a joint concert Saturday night with the Kent State University Wind Ensemble. The Kent State Honor Band was under the direction of Dr. Wayne Gorder and the Festival Band was under the direction of Dr. Eric Aho.

 

LHS Band Student Earn All-State Honors




Alicia Schwartz, daughter of Stan and Anita Schwartz and a sophomore at Louisville High School, performed with the Ohio All-State Band January 24th, in Cleveland, Ohio. Membership in the OMEA All-State Band is open by audition to all Ohio high school instrumental music students. Alicia prepared a required tape to audition for the band and was one of four alto saxophones to be selected from Ohio. Alicia is a private student of Mrs. Karen Long.

The Ohio All-State Band performs in conjunction with the Ohio Music Education Association's Convention.
