CONCERT SEASON
SYMPHONIC BAND:
The symphonic band will be composed of the best musicians in each section. Students will be selected to create a balanced instrumentation. A program of musical experiences will be offered which will develop the capacity of students to perform well in the concert setting. Students shall receive group and individual instruction during the regular band period or after school as the student’s schedule permits. Performances for the season shall include concerts, festivals, and district/state contest at the discretion of the director

CONCERT BAND:
The concert band will be composed of all instrumentalists who have passed Level III Proficiency or higher. The music that the concert band plays will not be as difficult as the symphonic band. This band is designed to strengthen and develop all instrumentalists. Performances for the season shall incude concerts, festivals, and district contest at the discretion of the director.

OTHER MUSIC GROUPS

JAZZ BAND
1. Jazz band meets outside of the school day. Members of this group are chosen by audition or invitation.
2. Attendance is extremely vital because each player is responsible for a part.
3. Performances for the year shall include concerts, festivals, contest, and special performances at the discretion of the director.
4. Jazz band members must be in band unless invited to play because of needed instrumentation.
5. Prerequisite: Approval of the director

PEP BAND
1. Pep Band meets one hour before every home basketball game.
2. Members are chosen by seniority until a specified instrumentation is filled.
3. Performances include boy’s home basketball games and a few other special events.
4. Pep Band members must be a member of the band.

LARGE ENSEMBLES
1. Percussion Ensemble: Consists of members of the percussion section and may perform at concerts, solo and ensemble contest, or other special events during the year.
2. Brass Ensembles: Consists of members of the brass section and may perform at concerts, solo and ensemble contest, or other special events during the year.
3. Woodwind Ensembles: Consists of members of the woodwind section and may perform at concerts, solo and ensemble contest, or other special events during the year.
