INSTRUMENTAL MUSICIANSHIP AWARDS will be given upon completion of levels as defined by the L.H.S. Instrumental Music Curriculum Guide. ARION AWARD is presented to the outstanding senior band member and is voted on by the entire band. Points of consideration are: Scholastic Standing – Cooperation Inspiration Diligence – Musicianship – Personal Influence Ambition – Attendance – Musical Performance Qualified to carry on the best traditions of L.H.S. The student’s name is placed on a plaque permanently displayed JOHN PHILIP SOUSA BAND AWARD is presented each year to the outstanding senior band member. Points of consideration are: Superior Musician (capable of playing as a soloist) Leadership Dependability Loyalty Cooperation Be recognized as both an outstanding performer and a truly outstanding young citizen. This member receives a lapel pin, a certificate, and a marble desk piece with a medallion. The student’s name is placed on a plaque permanently displayed. HOWARD SMITH JAZZ AWARD is presented to an outstanding senior jazz band member. Points of consideration are: Jazz Musicianship – Music Performance – Cooperation Attendance – Inspiration – Ambition Diligence DISPLAYING YOUR AWARDS The following awards may be displayed on your band uniform: 1.
